The “wedding what if’s”

Krista Morrison, founder of Kita Events NorthwestThere comes a time in the planning process where, I like to call the “wedding what if’s” come and they come on strong! I have heard questions like….

  • My maid of honor is pregnant and has very bad morning sickness…what if she gets sick during my ceremony?
  • My baker has not called me back in over a month….what if they didn’t put in my order?
  • My parents have not seen each other since they divorced 10 years ago….what do I do when they are together again for the first time at my wedding?

Having a partner on your team that not only is looking out for you, but looking out for the Wedding as a whole is the key to squash those “wedding what if’s”. A Day of Wedding coordinator is there to make sure that everything runs smoothly for everyone involved. That means the Baker, the parents, the DJ, the maid of honor and of course…Grandpa Gus. I learned in my first career life, the term “That’s not my Job” was completely unacceptable and should never be said to a patient. I use it still to this day. So when the night comes to an end and the decor needs to be packed up, the floor swept, the garbage taken out…. you better believe that is my job.

It goes a very long way when I reply “I understand your worry”. I too was a bride who had a lot of “wedding what if’s” so I truly understand. I am also known to reply… “I got this”. Now of course there may be things that I am truly not qualified to do. I can not be your DJ. But I can put together a wedding playlist. I cant serve your liquor. But I have a bartender on staff!

It is important that the coordinator contact each hired or contracted vendor. To introduce themselves, to ask what support they need to d their part and mostly….”if you need anything, contact me not the bride”. So, whether big or small, it is my job and I will be your biggest cheerleader, your “go to gal”, your shoulder to cry on and possibly your Uncle Roger’s dance partner. You never know!
