Chasing a Dream

It would have never dawned on me that after 7 years in business I would still be going strong and in a place to set bigger goals! 7…almost 8 years ago I started this business with the dream to work in a very affluent community of 100 homes valuing over 3 million each. This weekend that dream came true and what a blast it was. Being on cloud 9 is fun and all but I said to myself, at breakfast the day after the big event, “well now what?” I imagine many entraprnuers have this same feeling that there is no stopping and once a goal is met, its time to get back in the game and go for yet another goal.

I took an event that had been going on for over 100 years, done the same way and changed it up to something more modern, free flowing with highlighted events. We had 3 Chefs featuring their finest dishes all in tasting portions, one Chef was from Italy! We had a giant Magic Mirror photo booth, a gelato trike and a video game truck for the kids, allowing the adults to have some fun as well.

At first there was a ton of push back and I was afraid they were not going to like all the changes but then I got the final guest count and it doubled from last year! It was such a success that we were invited back next year.

To any of you, in the industry or planning and event. Here is my advice from an Event Planner and small business owner….Go Big, Set big goals and work hard for large dreams. It wont be easy but it will be worth it!
